M/s Micro Engg. Works was established on 4th April 1979 as an ancillary unit to M/s Swaraj Tractors Ltd. Mohali and Punjab Recorders Ltd. Mohali. The unit to start had very limited machinery and equipments. The unit was allotted C.S.T./S.T. No. In 1980 and got registered as a small scale industry with Chandigarh Administration in 1982 the first proto type model of drilling machine was introduced to the market.
In 1982 the year of recession, Micro Eng. Works quit as an ancillary unit to M/s Punjab Tractors and Punjab Recorders and started with the production of Precision drilling machines in 1983 about 10-15 were sold throughout the year. The unit participated in trade fairs and displayed its product. This gave tremendous exposure. The unit sold 60 machines each during 1988-89 and 1989-90. 90 machines were sold during 1990-91. The total numbers of machines sold during 1991-92, 93, 94, 95, 96 was 100, 140, 170, 200, 240 respectively.
Besides reflecting stable increase in number of machines sold, the unit has developed a number of new machines like Tapping machines of different ranges, Roll marking machine, Radius turning attachment, Keyless drill chuck and many more. The unit has now broadened its marketing base by displaying its products in the international exhibition in Europe, EMO-2005, Hannover Germany. Micro Engineering works has already exported its product to U.S.A., Taiwan, Europe and planning to export to other countries also.
