Incorporated in 1982, Nelcast, manufactures Grey and SG Iron Castings having applications in the Automobile and Tractor Sectors in engines, transmissions, housings and suspension, axle, brake and steering systems. In addition, it also caters to railways and pipe fitting industries. It manufactures around 200 different castings in SG and Grey Iron. Cylinder Blocks, Flywheels, Flywheel Housings, Housings, Hubs, Spring Shackle, Suspension Brackets, Transmission Cases, Axle Housings, Exhaust Manifolds are some of the items produced by the Company for the Commercial vehicles and Tractors. It established its first factory in 1985 at Gudur, Andhra Pradesh to produce 1,200 MT p.a. of iron castings. In 1996, Nelcast extended its operations to Ponneri, Tamil Nadu by establishing a factory with an installed capacity of 12,000 MT p.a. for the manufacture of Grey iron and Ductile iron castings. Having started as an ancillary supplier to Ashok Leyland, the Company has through rapid strides grown to an installed annual capacity of 1,26,000 MT by Sept 2007. Nelcast is in the process of setting up of state of the art machining facility in Chennai and expected to start commercial production in Mar 2008.
